Artisto is a really cool app for iPhone that uses Google Deepdream technology to transform a short video into a work of art. Check out this little clip I did. Can you guess what was on the original video?
This looks cool and just up my alley. Arrival is a science fiction movie starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker. Coming to theatres November 11, 2016.
After I did the so called Prosound mod on my Gameboy Color I spent a few hours to get to know Nanoloop again. In the beginning it’s a bit of a hassle to work with, but after a while I managed to do some interesting lo-tech loops. Here is a live recording from last night. Everything was done in one take, without any editing except noise reduction, EQ (for beafier bass) and a tiny bit of compression. Check it out if you’re into chip tune music on the more techier side. Lo-tech techno!
Wow. Here’s a game I’m really looking forward to playing. Outcast: Second Contact is a modern remake of the 1999 science fiction adventure-game Outcast. I loved and played though all of the original, which at the time had a great story, top notch voxel graphics and a live recorded orchestral score.
Outcast: Second Contact will be shown during Gamescom 2016 in Cologne, from August 17th to 19th. The game is set for release in early 2017 on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
Today I got that special screwdriver I needed to be able to open up the Gameboy. The tool is called a Philips Triwing and it can be used to unscrew other Nintendo things as well. Alas my old original, yellowed Gameboy is now open and ready for some serious fixery.
I’m planning to do three things: Fixing the D-pad, fixing the dead pixels on the screen and soldering a new line-out to improve sound quality.
Update: The plastic thing under the D-pad was broken so I had to order replacement parts. While I wait for that to arrive from Hong Kong I decided to do the Prosound mod on my Gameboy Color instead. It was pretty simple and took maybe one hour and a half from start to finish. It sounds a bit better now so I will start to make some Nanoloop noises on it and upload to Soundcloud.
The last couple of years I haven’t done much remixing, but looking back the last 15 years or so I count more than 25 of them. Most of them were official, commissioned remixes that were released on CD, vinyl and digital. A few weren’t released for some reason or the other and a couple were just-for-fun unofficial remixes.
I just made a playlist that contains most of them. It has my official Klaus Schulze and Jean Michel Jarre covers but also remixes from other artists you might never have heard of (but should).
Which one is your favorite? I know my favorite, but won’t tell you.
As everybody knows that Blade Runner is the best movie ever made, in my humble opinion anyway. 😉
This unofficial trailer isn’t brand new but I just saw it. Amazingly cut and it manages to capture that noir feeling of the movie just perfectly.
I love a good game any day and here is one that I enjoyed immensely, Firewatch.
I have to admit I kind of missed all the hype when it was released back in February. Somehow I thought it would be about looking out for and report wildfires. Turns out that’s not at all what it’s about. Instead it’s a really beautiful mystery game set in the Wyoming wilderness, where “your only emotional lifeline is the person on the other end of a handheld radio”. Great story and.. yeah a really good game. Available for Windows, Mac, Linux and Playstation 4. Check it out if you haven’t already.
Throwback Sunday!! Here is one of my older tracks that pops up once in a while. It’s my remix or rather cover of Jean Michel Jarre’s classic track Zoolook that I did for the Jarre Forever CD. Released in 2002, that whole project was put together by the official Norwegian Jean Michel Jarre fanclub. The track still holds up pretty well I think. What do you think about it? Comment on Facebook if you like.
Today I will spend some hours in the studio trying to make one more tune for my next album. I’m still 2-3 tunes short until it’s finished. If you want to keep up with what I’m doing, my music and other artistic endeavours, you should follow me on the other sites I’m active on. They are:
Om not on Twitter anymore. Why? I’m just not a Twitter guy. Writing stuff everyday that nobody was reading really wasn’t my thing. So I quit it and didn’t look back.
